State police are releasing data from the Memorial Day weekend.
During the four-day period, state police investigated 843 crashes that led to 129 injuries and five fatalities. Police say alcohol played a role in 59 of those crashes, including two fatalities.
Police also arrested nearly 400 people for driving under the influence. That’s a decrease of over 100 from last year’s arrests.
Finally, police say they issued nearly 27,000 citations overall for other traffic violations, with speeding being the most common infraction.
