State lawmakers, including a local State Senator, are applauding the signing of the Federal Whole Milk for Healthy Kids Act.
In released statement, State Senator and Agriculture Committee leader Elder Vogel Jr. praised the bill, saying it will be “incredibly beneficial to our local dairy farmers who take pride in providing quality dairy products to our communities.”
The law allows schools nationwide to offer whole and 2 percent milk, along with the already provided low fat and fat-free milk as an option for students.
This law is in response to the 2010 law that limited the consumption of whole and 2 percent milk, only allowing low fat and fat free milk.
