Western Pennsylvania is expecting a round of strong storms today.
The National Weather Service is predicting storms on-and-off throughout the day Wednesday, with potential wind gusts over 30 miles per hour. They’re also projecting anywhere from a half inch to three-quarters of an inch of precipitation today.
But with the severe weather, state officials are urging homeowners to review their insurance policies.
As spring storm season hits, the Pennsylvania Insurance Department is encouraging homeowners to take a serious look at their policy. They note flood insurance is not included in a standard homeowner’s policy.
They also say to look at the deductibles and whether you are insured for replacement cost coverage.
Officials say just one inch of water can cost thousands in damage.
