Late last week a federal judge ruled against the Trump Administration and says the federal government must fund SNAP benefits, but President Trump announced today he will not.
Governor Josh Shapiro was one of many states to join a lawsuit that argued that funding for SNAP benefits that are available must be distributed.
On Friday, a federal court ruled in favor of requiring the Trump Administration to fund SNAP benefits that were expected to end this past weekend. $4.6 billion in contingency funds will be used to cover 50 percent of eligible households.
But in court filings the judge overseeing the case called for the government to fund the additional funds to fully fund the program.
Today President Donald Trump said he will not fund the program until “the Radical Left Democrats open up government, which they can easily do, and not before!”
