Volunteers with the United Way will gather later this week to help build bicycles for children.
The group of volunteers from over 30 area businesses will be at the Community Park in Cranberry for the project tomorrow (Wednesday).
This is the 12th year of the “Build A Bike” event in Butler and the United Way expects to build 600 bikes to be distributed by seven Butler-based agencies. Every bike is inspected by a bike safety expert and comes with a helmet and a lock.
There will also be other bike building events later in the week in Westmoreland and Allegheny Counties. A total of over 3,000 bikes have been distributed through this program over the past 12 years.
