The United Way of Southwestern Pennsylvania is getting school supplies ready for a number of students across the area at an upcoming event.
The program known as “Tools for Schools” taking place Wednesday and Thursday in Sewickley has donated supplies to tens of thousands of students in need over the last six years.
Around 200 volunteers will be unloading and sorting items to distribute to school districts across the five-county Pittsburgh region including Butler, Knoch, and Freeport.
Officials say around 10,000 students in kindergarten through 2nd grade will receive the supplies such as folders, pencils, markers, pencil sharpeners, erasers, scissors, crayons, glue sticks, and pencil cases.
