Willian “Bill” Layton, 91, of Butler, PA, passed away on August 11, 2025 at Newhaven Court at Clearview.
He was born on November 11, 1933 in Butler, PA to the late Burton V. Layton and Beulah G. (Pollock) Layton.
Bill graduated from Butler High School and proudly served our country in the United States Air Force. He went on to earn his degree from the Milwaukee Institute of Technology and built a successful career as an electrical engineer, working at Bell Laboratories in Allentown, Estee Music in Zelienople, and AGR for over 20 years.
A true enthusiast of technology and computers, Bill took great pride in tinkering and repairing broken things. He also enjoyed farming and gardening . Bill traveled the world, with one of his favorite places being Switzerland. Above all, he loved spending time with his family.
Bill is survived by sister, Grace Sutton; nephews, Donald (Barbara) Layton and Tom Sutton; nieces, Judy (Dwight) Byers, Sandra Kniess, Bonnie (John) Foster, Linda (Bob) Herman, and Patricia (Tom) Rajchel.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brother, Burton Layton; sister, Gertrude Grindel; nephew, Dennis Grindel, and niece Rebecca Layton Taylor.
A visitation will be received from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. on Wednesday August 13, 2025, at Thompson-Miller Funeral Home, Inc., 124 E. North Street, Butler, PA 16001, with a funeral service immediately following at 4:00 P.M. with Reverend Bob Edmundson officiating.
Full Military Honors and burial will take place at 12:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 14, 2025, at Eau Claire Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made in Bill’s name to a charity of choice.
