A Butler woman has been charged in a stabbing that happened this weekend in Butler City.
Police were called to a home around 4 a.m. Sunday in the 300 block of Pleasant View Avenue for a woman claiming she was stabbed by her husband.
Once on scene police saw the victim on the ground holding his chest and the suspect 26-year-old Holly McElfresh. The victim was bleeding from his chest and McElfresh had a cut to her left arm with a knife on the floor.
According to charging documents, the victim and McElfresh were arguing when she attempted to cut a hole in her sweater with a knife. The argument continued and McElfresh then stabbed the victim.
The victim was responsive and was taken to the hospital.
McElfresh was charged with aggravated assault and placed in the Butler County Prison on $250,000 bail.
A preliminary hearing has been scheduled for September 14.
