A Fenelton man is now facing charges for alleged animal cruelty after selling his dog.
In June, police allege 51-year-old David Lewis sold a German Sheppard that was malnourished. When police spoke with Lewis he admitted to owning the dog for two years and told police he would feed the dog heart and liver every day but would not detail how often.
Lewis is also alleged to have told police he never took the dog to the veterinarian. The officer that interviewed Lewis also claims that the conditions the dog was living in were muddy and unsanitary.
When the dog was taken to the Animal Hospital of Dubois it was diagnosed as underweight, malnourished, and having a severe ear infection.
Lewis has been charged with two counts of neglect of animals and cruelty to animals. He’s awaiting a preliminary arraignment in November.
