Janet J. Bandura, 75, of Butler, passed away peacefully on Friday, January 23, 2026, at her residence.
She was born on August 8, 1950, in Pittsburgh, and was the daughter of the late John and Theresa (Lehrman) Gerulis.
Janet was a member of St. Conrad Parish and was formerly employed at AK Credit Union and later at The Atrium. She will be remembered for a life marked by warmth, devotion, and quiet joy. In her younger years, she was an avid runner, finding strength and freedom in marathons that reflected her determination and spirited nature.
She shared a deep and abiding love for her animals throughout her life, including her cherished backyard birds, which she faithfully fed and cared for, finding peace and comfort in their presence. Janet was also well known for her cooking, which was a true expression of her love for others. Her signature salad became a treasured staple at family gatherings and will forever be associated with her care and hospitality.
Janet enjoyed watching crime shows, Seinfeld, and Everybody Loves Raymond. She was an incredible mother, stepmother, and aunt, loving her children with unwavering devotion, fierce protection, and unconditional love. She adored her grandchildren, treasuring time spent with them and taking great pride in being a part of their lives. Some of her happiest moments were spent simply sitting on the porch, soaking in the quiet and appreciating the simple beauty of life.
Above all, her husband, Tom, was her best friend, constant companion, and the center of her world. Together, they shared a bond rooted in love, laughter, and everyday moments that meant everything.
Janet’s kindness, passions, and unwavering love for her family will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who were lucky enough to know her.
In addition to her parents, Janet was preceded in death by her son, Jason Esper. She carried a deep love and longing for him and passed away on his birthday-a moment many see as a reunion of hearts.
Surviving are her husband, Thomas M. Bandura; her daughters, Kayla (Brad) Johnson of Cranberry and Kelly (Josh) Vehar of Bridgeville; her nephew, William (Danielle) Coleman and their family of Fox Chapel; her grandchildren, Brax, Grace, Luka, Cassidy, and Emma; her sister, Mimi Gerulis of West Sunbury; and her brother, John (Dianne) Gerulis of Siesta Key, Florida. Numerous other nieces and nephews.
Friends will be received at Young Funeral Home, Ltd., 127 W. Jefferson Street, Butler, on Thursday, January 29, 2026, from 1-3 PM and 5 PM until the time of the Blessing Service at 7 PM, with her nephew, Father Tyler J. Bandura, V.F., officiating.
