The State Board of Higher Education has adopted a strategic plan.
The board created “Driving a Prosperous Pennsylvania: A Statewide Agency for Higher Education” with input from the public to improve the long-term future of the schools in Pennsylvania.
The plan includes six goals: increasing postsecondary attainment, creating affordable pathways to postsecondary credentials, supporting the economic and workforce development needs of the Commonwealth, ensuring accountability, efficient use of state funds, and strengthening the fiscal health and stability of the sector.
The board was established was established in 2024 to streamline plans between the state-owned universities and community colleges.
