The Pittsburgh Penguins visit the Philadelphia Flyers tonight for Game 6 of their best-of-seven Stanley Cup Playoff Series. Face-off is 7:30pm. Pre-game on WISR begins at 7pm.
The Pens need another victory to force a series-deciding game back to Pittsburgh Saturday.
Only four teams in the 100-years of NHL Stanley Cup history have climbed back from a 3-0 deficit in a series to advance.
The Toronto Maple Leafs did it in the 1942 Stanley Cup Final. Philadelphia did it in a 2010 playoff series. Los Angeles did it in 2014 and went on to win the Cup. And many Penguins fans will remember the 1975 series when the New York Islanders fell behind the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-0 in the Quarterfinals, and came back to advance.
Three teams forced Game 6’s in their Stanley Cup Playoff Series last night:
–The Boston Bruins defeated the Buffalo Sabres 2-1 in overtime to stay alive in their Eastern Conference Series. Buffalo still leads the series 3-2.
–Dallas defeated Minnesota 4-2, but the Wild still lead the series 3-2.
–Edmonton defeated Anaheim 4-1 and have also forced that series back to California with the Ducks leading 3-2.
