The Pennsylvania Turnpike was shut down in both directions overnight from the Breezwood to New Stanton exits after a vehicle crash.
Around 150 people were evacuated from the Allegheny Tunnel around 9:20 p.m. Thursday after a vehicle crash led to a vehicle catching on fire.
Drivers traveling through the tunnel weren’t able to return to their vehicles until 2:45 a.m. and were able to pass through by 3 a.m. Friday morning.
the Turnpike was re-opened to all drivers at 3:20 a.m. with a bi-directional pattern in the eastbound tunnel lane.
As Turnpike officials’ complete inspections drivers should be prepared to slow down and obey all traffic signs as the pass through the tunnel.
