A Farrell woman with warrants across the country has been charged in Evans City after she allegedly withdrew money from someone’s account with fake identification.
In September 2024, the victim reported to police that $2,000 had been withdrawn from her account without her knowledge.
According to charging documents 42-year-old Lashawn Swift went into an Evans City bank three times. The first two attempting to cash two checks valued at over $5,000 total. Each attempt was denied and reported as fraud to the victim.
The third time Swift went into the bank she was able to withdraw $2,000. Two weeks later, Swift was taken into custody in Punxsutawney for attempting to commit similar crimes.
According to Swift, she was driven around the country and given drugs in exchange to commit the alleged thefts.
In Butler she was charged with forgery, theft by unlawful taking, and identity theft.
She’s awaiting a preliminary hearing.
