Today is Juneteenth and some offices are closed for the day.
Most banks are shut down, along with the stock market. The Post Office is also closed so no mail will be delivered.
PennDOT offices will be shut down.
All other federal offices will be closed too. However, the Butler County Government Center is open today.
Juneteenth commemorates the end of slavery in the United States—stemming back to June 19, 1865, when the Union soldiers arrived in Galveston, Texas to inform the country’s last enslaved people that they had been freed under the Emancipation Proclamation.
