The Winnipeg Jets scored three times in the third period to defeat the Pittsburgh Penguins 3-2 last night at PPG Paints Arena. Ben Kindel opened the scoring for the Penguins with his second goal of the season in the second period. The Jets scored all three of their goals in just over a span of five minutes mid-way through the third period. Declan Carlile tied the game for the Penguins just under nine minutes into the third, but the Jets scored the game-winning goal just nine seconds later. Sergei Murashov started in net for the Penguins and had a shutout through two periods. Sloppy Penguins play in front of Murashov became an issue by the third period. He ended the night stopping 31 of 34 shots, saving the Pens early during several break-downs. The Penguins were outhit in the game 23-11.
The Penguins visit the Washington Capitals Wednesday.
The NHL’s all-time leading goal-scorer – Alex Ovechkin, has announced he will retire after this season. The 2026-27 season will be his 22nd in the NHL.
