Butler Township has welcomed a new hire to a position focused on municipal assets like Preston Park.
Sophia Wiest has been chosen as the Director of Parks and Recreation, a full-time position responsible for managing Butler Township’s parks events, rental of facilities, and promoting increased opportunities.
Wiest comes to the position with a Masters in Business Administration and is the daughter of Township Commissioner Joe Wiest. She will make $52,000 and has been working on social media pages for Butler Township’s Parks Department including Facebook and Instagram.
Wiest started with the township last week and she is now the main person responsible for scheduling of township facilities like the recreation field at Pullman Business Park.
