One state lawmaker has proposed new legislation to restrict telemarketers from spoofing local area numbers and have new rules when calls can be made.
Last legislative session Senate Bill 381, had support from both Democrats and Republicans, this session Senate Bill 992 once again has party crossover.
The bill would prohibit spoofing phone numbers that make calls seem they are coming from a local area. It would also ban robocalls after 8 p.m. in Pennsylvania.
The bill was formerly introduced in the house late last week and has been referred to the Senate Consumer Protection and Professional Licensure committee.
