A Mars man is currently in prison and facing additional charges after it’s alleged he was illegally in possession of firearms.
On August 14, 26-year-old Jason Starr was taken into custody after it’s alleged he was in possession of a samurai sword and throwing stars when police were called to an Adams Township home for a domestic incident. Starr was placed in the Butler County Prison for $25,000 bond for that incident.
The day after, while in prison Starr was given a protection from abuse order that included he relinquish any weapons he may have had. Starr informed police of guns in his vehicle located at his home.
Inside the vehicle was a handgun, hallow point bullets, and body armor. Due to a Pennsylvania law, Starr is not allowed to be in possession of a firearm or body armor.
He has been charged with possession of a firearm prohibited and unlawful ownership of body arm. He is still being held in the Butler County Prison on $25,000 as his court proceedings continue.
